About.
Born and raised in Bogdanci, Macedonia, ANGIE is an emerging pop/alternative and indie-rock artist, songwriter and composer with heavy cinematic and theatrical influences. Known to combine her love for blues-related music with traditional Macedonian music that she grew up listening to, ANGIE blends genres and delivers a new and fresh sound.
ANGIE’s music career started when she was 7 when she began taking classical piano lessons, and soon became a member of school choirs and orchestras. Alongside singing and playing piano, she was also a traditional dancer which planted the love and interest in ethno Macedonian music. She soon began performing in festivals for original and covered music and was most notably a singer in the most prestigious Female Chamber Choir “St. Zlata Meglenska”. She met her vocal coach, Ana Kostadinovska, at a competition and began taking lessons immediately, where she perfected her skills in pop, rock, ethno, classical and musical theater performance.
ANGIE’s first release was her EP, “Bitter Blues”, which included five pop/alternative songs. The project came together “on its own”, the songs either had the blue melodies she keeps running back to, had a bitter story to tell – or both. “Bitter Blues” is a collaboration between her and recent Berklee graduate Cole Hutchinson who produced, mixed and mastered the EP.
"Whistling Of The Wind" is ANGIE's most recent release — a song that she wrote about her hometown, Bogdanci, while she was away and was longing for her home. Inspired by traditional Macedonian rhythms, melodies and harmonic structures, she combined that with alternative and rock music and made it as authentic as possible to her. The song features her friends and band members — "The Halos" and her long-time collaborator Cole Hutchinson.
The mission ANGIE has as an artist and songwriter is to help change the world for the better and help her people’s voice be heard. She believes music is a powerful tool with the ability to do great things, and she hopes to achieve just that with all the music she writes and composes. She hopes to bring attention to problems she believes are important, contribute to keeping the music of Macedonia alive and tell her people’s stories with all the music she writes, composes and performs.
Presently, ANGIE is working on new original music and exploring new genres and intertwining it with her current sound. She is also expanding her musical career in the synchronization and film industry and is developing and writing the book, music and lyrics for an original musical with collaborator Shay Beaty.
